Save me, Dear Lord

Meditation on Matt 8:23-27

Dear Lord,

The storms of life buffet me badly as I try to follow you.

I seem to be failing you and everyone else around me.

And sometimes it feels that it is all quite impossible.

You seem to be silent and not hear me as I call out.

And sometimes I am so paralysed that I cannot even speak.

Dear LORD, help me, I am perishing.

Save me LORD!

Only you can do this.

Calm the storms in my heart and in my life.

Show yourself strong as you have done so many times previously.

There is no one as powerful as you.

Do what only you can do!

It will all end in praise!

Shall we accept the joys but not the sorrow from what He brings?
He is the one who dispenses both sometimes in seemingly equal measure.
Do we think we deserve only good because we belong to Him?
Who fed us that lie?
Do we not know how our salvation was won?
What witness have we if there are no valleys or mountains?
How does He prepare a table for us in the presence of our enemies if there are no enemies?
How do we make a sacrifice of praise if there is no sorrow we praise Him through?
What witness have we if there is no reason for which our praise demands attention?
Tis the summons of the LORD of all flesh!
Will you answer in a way that shows your faith or not?
He is the LORD, the God of all the flesh! Is there anything too hard for Him?
He is the God of the impossible who makes the dry land bloom and rejoice.
Cheers!

Tis Lent again

Tis another Lent Lord Jesus as you know,
With renewed focus on prayer, fasting and almsgiving.
You know it goes; sometimes I do it all.
Other times I flit and afore I know it’s holy week already and I’m wondering the Lent went.
So Lord, this Lent I ask for your mercy.
Restore to me the joy of salvation and sustain within me a willing spirit.
Show me the treasures in your word in this season.
Give me a renewed love for you and for my neighbor.
Teach me to wait on you and to trust you whate’er my lot is.
May I glimpse your glory as ne’er before that my focus may be transformed.
And Lord, when Lent is over, keep me praying, fasting and giving alms with as much fervor.
Abi you know dada.
Love, Angela

P.S. Help me to go through it not as usual but with the awareness of the moment of grace. Show me how to war and battle my soul’s enemies.
Let your glory be seen; may they never ask, “Where is her God?”

TRUST IN GOD

Someday, the pieces will fall into place
And with hindsight, I’ll see why you arranged everything as you did
I’ll jump for joy at the precision with which you planned everything
And be amazed at your love and care
Father in Heaven, with the eyes of faith I see all you’ll make me
And I rejoice at seeing your wonders
With all my heart I rejoice now
And I thank you and bless your name
I rejoice
At the questions
And all the things I wonder about
And I trust you
Because you make no mistakes
So with the eyes of faith I rejoice and see
All you’ll make me
And with the eyes of faith I rejoice and see
Increase my faith
That I may see as you see
And rejoice while I wait on you
I trust in you
You alone are my hope!
All things work together for good with those who love God and are all called according to His purpose
Romans 8:28

A call to holiness

Called to be holy
The Matthew five way
Living each day
Like Christ
Called to depend
Solely on God in a
World that continually
Screams the opposite at us
Called to mourn for
Sin and evil in a
World where
Everything is relative
Called to be humble
In a world which
Despises humility and
Considers humble
People weak
Called to hunger and
Thirst for righteousness
In a world that encourages fulfillment
Of every desire but that
Called to be merciful
In a world that
Doesn’t know the
Meaning of forgiveness
Or mercy and is all
For vengeance
Called to be pure
In heart in a
Corrupt world
That wants to
See everything
But God
Called to be
peacemakers in
a world that
can accept all
religions  but
that of the Son of God
called to be persecuted for
righteousness
sake in a
world where
the persecution
has entered and
comes so subtly
we may not even recognize it
called to be salt and light
called to be different
called to love
called to go the extra mile
called to be citizens
of the kingdom of God
journeying in this evil world
called to live
an impossible kind
of life- a life
we never can
live except for
the grace of God
called to be holy

Father in heaven,
We have heard your
Word. Greant us your
Grace to livethe
Holy life you call
Us to-every waking
Moment of our life
