Congratulations on your ordination

An ordination is the beginning of an even longer journey than the journey to the priesthood.

Reminds me of Joseph's life....13 years as a slave and prisoner were 11% of his 110 years...necessary years of preparation for a life of service and impact.

We pray for all our new priests, may the God who called you and has moulded you into a priest fill you with every grace needed for the journey ahead.

As a priest, you're a father mother, brother, sister, spiritual director and so much more...an often thankless job that can leave you weary.

May God's daily new mercies renew your strength for each day as you guide His people on the mutual journey to heaven.

Congratulations!

Interruptions

So are interruptions always as they seem? I don’t think so.
Sometimes they are God’s own way of turning our lives right side up.
Kinda like Christianity.
It was said of Paul and co that “the people who have turned the world upside down have come here also”
But all they were doing was turning peoples’ lives right side up.
With God as the head; just as it should be.
So next time you encounter a seeming interruption or things don’t seem to be going as they should,
Remember it might be an opportunity for things to be turned right side up.
You never know
Peace!

Happy Easter!

Christ our Paschal lamb sacrificed for us has risen from the dead; no more to die.
He has, with his death, put an end to death, sin, suffering and sorrow.
He has brought new life and with it, new hope.

Tis time to embrace the hope he brings
To rejoice at the wonders he has wrought
To celebrate the triumph over death and the victory won.

Bring your sorrows and exchange them for joy.
For mourning, he will give you gladness
For ashes he will give beauty and much more besides; the exchange is complete.

Tis time to fill the earth with the knowledge of the LORD.
To proclaim: he lives no more to die.
In every nook and cranny that all may come to know Christ.

Reflections on Peter's betrayal: a prayer for Pentecost

Mark 14:26-31, 66-72; John 20: 15-19; Acts 2:14-41& the rest of the book of Acts

Okay, so this meditation is based on what is seen of the Apostle Peter in the gospels and in the Acts of the Apostles. The difference is really quite great. He's the same loud mouthed leader as in the gospels, but in Acts, he's a fearless, miracle working one. That's pretty awesome! May the Holy Spirit make the difference in our lives! Amen!

On Peter's betrayal

Dear Lord, sometimes like Peter, I'm full of myself and think so much of my relationship with you and how much I love you that I am certain that though others betray you I never will.

Yet I forget my own weaknesses and I'm not able to stand for you when it matters the most. My fear gets the better part of me and I sin against you. O Lord, have mercy on me.

As you gave Peter another chance to affirm His love for you, I too seek another chance from you. I've sinned and betrayed you. Bring me back to you and renew me. Once more, reaffirm your purpose for my life.

And as you did with Peter, send forth your Spirit! So that just as Peter, who denied you before a slave girl,  proclaimed you before crowds and before the Sanhedrin with the power of the Holy Spirit, I too may proclaim your word to the nations.

In Jesus name, Amen!!!!

You only live once

You only live once....how are you preparing for eternity?
You only live once.... why spend your time on what is not eternal?
You only live once ....choose to make every moment count....for Jesus.
You only live once.......surrender all to your creator

Money won't cut it.
School and academic laurels won't cut it.
Getting married and having kids won't cut it.
Becoming as famous as can be won't cut it.
None of that is worth anything without Christ.

In this day of media overload there's a lot of pressure to be and to do.
There's even a lot of the word that's preached that's not so true.
Same as has been happening for centuries unend.
But God's word remains true.

You only live once....it's not enough to go to church or to be active even, as hard and as important as that is.
It's not enough to preach the word or perform miracles if you can without knowing the giver of them
Question is: does God know you?
And if He's forgotten you or you have forgotten Him, are you ready to make up?

You only live once....pursue fruits of righteousness.
Dig deep into the word that you may be cleansed and be a true bride for Christ.
You only live once....work for that which is eternal
Whatever your state is in life.

God's word remains true; He does not change
Only those whose hearts have been changed and are obedient can see Him and be with him forever.
Heaven is a club with a password.
The time for mercy is now. Get your password before you become late.

You only live once.....righteousness is still the best garment you can wear.
It comes with the best of tags but it is freely given.
The saviour's agony paid for it.
Buy yours now....for free.

All you need to do is ask.....coz you only live once.
Ask Him if you've never asked before.
And if you have but like a child your garments are filthy,
Ask again for cleansing. He is ever faithful.

Obey! Trust! My brother, my sister!; there's no substitute.
Not giving, not preaching, not being a leader.
Nothing will suffice except your whole heart and self.
God really wants it all.....you only live once!

You only live once.....let nothing take you from your God.
Your heart is restless because it does not rest in Him.
Come to Jesus today....He is calling to you.
Come now..... because you only live once.
