Happy Easter!

Christ our Paschal lamb sacrificed for us has risen from the dead; no more to die.
He has, with his death, put an end to death, sin, suffering and sorrow.
He has brought new life and with it, new hope.

Tis time to embrace the hope he brings
To rejoice at the wonders he has wrought
To celebrate the triumph over death and the victory won.

Bring your sorrows and exchange them for joy.
For mourning, he will give you gladness
For ashes he will give beauty and much more besides; the exchange is complete.

Tis time to fill the earth with the knowledge of the LORD.
To proclaim: he lives no more to die.
In every nook and cranny that all may come to know Christ.

The stone was rolled away; an Easter meditation

The women woke up early on the Sunday morning to go and anoint the body of Jesus. Their hope was dead but that did not stop them from doing what they needed to do.
And they wondered who would roll away the stone....but they went anyway...in faith.
And they were blessed to be the first ones to see the empty tomb and to hear from the angel that Jesus had risen.

Arise my dear sister!
Arise my dear brother!
It is your time.
Not to worry when all hope is gone but to keep pressing on.
Not to worry who will roll the stone away but to move forward in faith trusting that God will make a way.
And trusting God to do as He has said.

He will roll away the stone of sickness and reproach.
He will roll away the stone of fear and disgrace.
He will roll away the stone that you have had sleepless nights about even before you get there.
He will prepare an angel to give you the best news you could ever imagine
Resurrection instead of dead hopes.
He will make you live again

Mark 16:3-7

Jesus, your love is better than wine

Jesus,
your love is better than the sweetest of wines,
your love is better than that of married couples,
your love is better than that of parents,
your love is better than that of family,
your love is better than that of friends,
your love is the best of all.
Wine would never die for me.
Spouses rarely die for one another.
Even parents don't usually do.
Family may betray me,
Friends may forget me,
Your love is the best of all.
Your love is the best of all.
When I think of the pain you endured,
the betrayal and all the suffering.
When I think of your agony and humiliation.
When I remember all that you went through for my sake.
I cannot help but exclaim; your love is the best of all.
Your love is the best of all.
Teach me to love like you do; day by day.
Teach me to trust you more.
Teach me to love your word.
Teach me to proclaim and to do the things you did.
But most importantly, let me rest in the best love of all.

Easter

40 days seems like a long time,
Yet Lent is over soon.
And at Easter there is joy again.
How like life that seems.
Deep sorrow and pain we encounter at various times
Which precede the times of great joy in our life
Reminding us that weeping may endure for a night but His joy comes with the morning.
Yes Indeed!
Keep hope alive and keep pressing.
God is with you!

Happy Easter!

For Esther

When life has me wearied and I wonder what I’m doing
When all seems lost and I can only cry
When I have lost the song in my heart and wish I were dead
When nothing seems worthwhile and I am down
When I am not happy and wonder if I’ll ever be
When I feel like the worst person in the world and
When I wonder why I am alive

I choose to rejoice in my Saviour who is my joy and my strength
I choose to rejoice in Him who gives me joy in the morning though sorrow may endure for a night
I choose to rejoice in my LORD who overcame death by dying
I choose to rejoice in my Saviour who came to restore me to fellowship with God
I choose to rejoice in my resurrected Christ who used the persecution of the early Christians to lead them out of their comfort zones and to spread the good news
I choose to rejoice in my Lord of Hosts who is my banner in the fight not against flesh and blood
I choose to rejoice in the Lord my shepherd; because of Him I never want

I see, with the eyes of faith, His mercies that are new every morning
I see and I know, He is the bread of Life and with Him I am never hungry or thirsty
I see, I know and I understand, with Him all things are possible; He is my strength
I trust; I hope; I am renewed; and I step out to love just as He did
Because His grace in me empowers me for good and excellent works!
I am His work of art and very precious to Him!
