New life and direction

When He lifted me out of the mud and the quagmire, He gave me a new song and gladdened my heart.
He turned my aching sorrow into gladness and set me on a firm place.
He gave me fullness of joy in His presence and at His right hand pleasures for evermore.
He set His seal upon me and named me; forever.
He took all my pieces and made a masterpiece, master that He is.
He gave me new meaning and direction.
Then He gave me a new task and asked me to be an instrument; to pull His people out of mud and bring them to Him.

TO THE GOOD SHEPHERD

Sometimes, when I’ve wandered far from His grace and like a little lost lamb, feel very abandoned and lonely and almost wonder if my Shepherd still loves me and get scared because wolves are coming close and I know they want to devour me though they initially seemed even friendly.
I cry out, deep in my heart; I cry out with my little voice.
And He hears me, the Good Shepherd to whom I belong.
He comes over to rescue me; he breaks my legs so I have no choice but to rest in His arms for some part of the journey.
And He speaks words of comfort to me; He brings me fresh grass to eat and refreshes me with clear, clean water.
I bask in His love and I am at peace.
All is well, the Shepherd loves me.

Prose Poem to God (based on Ps 139: 14-16) 30/1/13

Sometimes it’s hard to imagine dear Lord that you love me just because you created me and not because of what I do or how good I think I am or how many times I go to church or all those other things people try to equate your love with.

Honestly, it’s ego boosting to think that you love me because I’m so good or love you so much or pay my tithe or pray or read my bible or one of those other things that make me smugly think that you must be mighty pleased to have me on your side.

And such thoughts dear Lord, make forgiveness seem like an alien concept when I fall which I so often do. And make it difficult to forgive me, accept your forgiveness or even forgive others. Leaving me carrying many burdens around when you have asked me to cast all my cares on you and deliberately disobeying your word because your command forgiveness.

Well dear Lord, once more you have reminded me that I am loved by you-just as I am: because you created me and long to conform me to your image. You know that I’ll fall and that’s why you’ve made provisions for that. You are never surprised by me but your grace abounds and you promise that nothing can ever separate me from your love.

Teach me, o my father, to love as you do-unconditionally and always to work for the good of others.  Open my heart, my eyes and my ears to know you and love you, my neighbours and myself and above all, teach me to rest in you as you have commanded. Thank you for your word.

ROMANS 8:37-39

God loves me! Tis the sweetest sound in the world!
No other love can compare to the love of the heavenly father
It means that I am His and His alone that that no matter how the world, my flesh and the devil pull, His love will triumph in the end.
God loves me! Tis music in my ears! It takes away sorrow, doubt and fear. No matter where I walk, His love goes before, beside and behind me.
God loves me! What an awesome privilege! Can I really do anything less than give myself away to Him? All of me? I am His anyway, He made me. Can I rob Him of what is rightfully his?
God loves me! This I must shout from the rooftops and from all places I find myself. I must shout it so that anyone who has never heard or has forgotten the love of God will know and give themselves to Him.
GOD LOVES ME!

To God! 25th May 2012

Made in his image
Endowed with gifts,
Uniquely
Made like none other
Full of love and grace
Called by His name,
His own,
With all the weaknesses and strengths
So awesomely that even
The weaknesses are instruments
For His glory
Endued with power to
Live a Christian life
As prophet, evangelist, teacher, pastor or apostle (Eph 4:11)
Manifesting his gifts(1 Cor  12:1-11)
Sharing His graces with others (Rom 12:6-8 )
Doing all you can do for
His glory
Rooted in Him
Pruned and shaped by Him
To bear much fruit
Fruit that will last(John 15:16)
Led by His Spirit
Daily
To live for Him

REPENTANCE-2/9/10

Full of joy, I come
Repentant
Knowing I’m forgiven
Yet hesitant
But
Mindful of your love
Overwhelmed by your love
Amazed and flabbergasted
Thinking about all I had failed to do
But hearing you tell me you love
Me all the same
That you understand
That you are here-you hear and see
As always
That your grace is sufficient
And that you know
That your desire is for me to live
Before you unashamed and not guilty
Because that is what you have declared me
That I am redeemed, holy and sanctified and consecrated in your sight already because of Jesus
That I should only walk in that path
And I come because you have called me to your banquet and have consecrated me. Without one plea, full of doubts I come-in faith
Because you have called and have held my hand
Your grace is sufficient
