Loving Shepherd: A meditation on Psalm 23

Loving shepherd,
I know that because you are my shepherd there is nothing I shall want.
Yet many times, I feel abandoned by you because I have so many unmet needs and wants.
Increase my faith in you and teach me to desire nothing as much as you yourself.

Loving shepherd,
You lead me in paths of righteousness for your names sake.
Teach me to be ever obedient to your word even when sin seems to overshadow your grace in my life.
You have clothed me with garments of righteousness. Help me stay clothed.

Loving shepherd,
Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I know you are with me.
Even when life feels overwhelming and I am hemmed in on every side, I know you are with me.
Teach me to hear you as you guide me and to trust that you will see me through.

Loving shepherd,
You prepare a table for me in the presence of my enemies!
Your radical ways are my delight!
You teach me to hand everything over to you because you are my recompense and my portion. You make the boundary lines fall for me in pleasant places and give me a goodly heritage.

Loving shepherd,
Dwelling in your house forever is my delight.
Your goodness and mercy follow me all the days of my life.
And I look forward to being with you forever in heaven.
My life with you on earth is only the beginning.

Thank you!

TO THE GOOD SHEPHERD

Sometimes, when I’ve wandered far from His grace and like a little lost lamb, feel very abandoned and lonely and almost wonder if my Shepherd still loves me and get scared because wolves are coming close and I know they want to devour me though they initially seemed even friendly.
I cry out, deep in my heart; I cry out with my little voice.
And He hears me, the Good Shepherd to whom I belong.
He comes over to rescue me; he breaks my legs so I have no choice but to rest in His arms for some part of the journey.
And He speaks words of comfort to me; He brings me fresh grass to eat and refreshes me with clear, clean water.
I bask in His love and I am at peace.
All is well, the Shepherd loves me.

Good Shepherd Sunday, 21/4/13 Jn 10:27-30, Acts 13:14.43-52, Ps 100, Rev 7:9.14-17

The Good Shepherd calls you; can you not hear Him?
He reaches for you; beloved sheep of His
Come to me! He calls. I long for you
Come, sheep, to the life I have called you to.
Hear my voice and obey it; you who are mine
I call you! To live eternity in everyday, powerfully, awaiting that final victory where we’ll be together forever
I call you! To proclaim my word daily; in word and deed; to proclaim my kingdom and righteousness
I call you! Hear my voice; rest in me
I call you! My sheep, who hear my voice
Still you soul; hear my voice
I call you!
